Glance launches AI-native commerce platform

In a move that positions it at the forefront of next-generation retail, Glance, the Google-backed consumer tech company and an unconsolidated subsidiary of InMobi, has launched Glance AI, an artificial intelligence-native commerce platform designed to fundamentally alter the way consumers shop online.

The platform introduces what the company describes as a transition from “search-led” to “inspiration-led” shopping, powered by some of its most advanced proprietary AI models to date.

The platform is now available globally as a standalone app on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store, with deeper integrations in the pipeline for Android OEMs and telecom providers.

Glance AI debuts with a focus on fashion, but will soon expand into beauty, accessories, and travel, reflecting the company’s ambition to build a cross-category, AI-first commerce ecosystem.

Shopping as an AI experience

At its core, Glance AI allows users to upload a selfie or an image, which is then used by the app to create hyper-personalized, AI-generated fashion looks.

These looks are tailored to the user’s body type, skin tone, fit preferences, and style, and are mapped in real time to shoppable items from over 400 global brands.

Users can explore, purchase, or even set their stylized images as wallpapers—all while retaining full control of their personal data, Glance said.

Unlike traditional e-commerce experiences, which rely on catalog-based browsing or keyword search, Glance AI replaces intent with inspiration, aiming to predict consumer desire even before it’s articulated.

“The internet is being rewritten from curated feeds to AI-generated realities,” said Naveen Tewari, Founder & CEO of InMobi and Glance.

“Glance AI reimagines how billions of consumers will discover, visualize and shop—replacing search with intelligent, autonomous agents. It’s among the most ambitious technological efforts in our journey and a bold step toward shaping the future of AI-driven consumer experiences.”

Deep-tech architecture and global integration

Glance AI is powered by a three-layer AI stack:

  1. Commerce Intelligence Model – Trained on decades of global commerce data to learn from cultural, seasonal, and behavioral shopping patterns.

  2. GenAI Experience Model – Creates hyper-realistic visualizations tailored to individual traits using diffusion models, integrated with Google’s Gemini and Imagen on Vertex AI.

  3. Transaction Journey Model – Matches predicted shopping intent with real product listings from massive global catalogues.

Built on open architecture, the platform also goes beyond just the mobile app, with embedded experiences planned across smartphones, televisions, and brand retail ecosystems, effectively turning any digital interface into a live AI shopping environment.

A new class of ‘AI consumers’

The launch also signals the rise of what Glance terms the “AI consumer”—users who expect technology to anticipate needs rather than merely respond to them.

In U.S. beta trials, the app reportedly saw 1.5 million active users within weeks. Half of them returned weekly, with over 40 million style requests generated. More than 40% of users engaged with shopping links, while 50% downloaded or shared their personalized AI styles, suggesting high levels of virality, conversion readiness, and social stickiness.

Backed by Global Heavyweights

Glance is backed by some of the most influential names in tech and telecom, including Google, Jio Platforms, and Mithril Capital. The company is now betting on its AI-native platform to redefine the consumer shopping experience—especially in mobile-first and inspiration-driven markets like India and Southeast Asia.

The company’s rollout strategy indicates a broader ambition: to become a global leader in generative AI commerce. By unifying predictive intelligence, neural rendering, and live commerce infrastructure, Glance AI appears set to challenge legacy e-commerce models with a system that offers not just convenience, but anticipatory personalization at scale.

A commerce operating system, not just an app

Beyond the consumer-facing experience, Glance envisions its AI stack becoming a “commerce OS” — integrated into brand stores, telecom devices, and retail environments to power end-to-end discovery and transaction journeys.

The company hinted at potential partnerships with handset manufacturers, TV makers, and retail chains, effectively bringing its AI into physical spaces.

The launch of Glance AI may mark one of the most aggressive and high-conviction bets on AI-driven commerce infrastructure from a consumer tech company originating in India.

As Tewari noted, “This isn’t just about shopping smarter—it’s about imagining commerce from the ground up for the age of generative intelligence.”
