Golden Sparrow, a micro venture capital firm based in the US, has recently announced the launch of a dedicated fund worth $8 million.

According to the VC firm, The fund aims to invest in Indian startups operating in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and software-as-a-service (SaaS).

Having successfully raised $6 million in its initial phase, the fund is projected to reach a final size of $8 million. Its primary focus will be on supporting early-stage startups that are developing innovative solutions within the AI and SaaS sectors.

Rishaad Currimjee, the General Partner at Golden Sparrow, expressed optimism about the potential of the Indian market, stating, "India will be the birthplace of category-defining companies in AI and SaaS, which are the primary focus areas of our fund."

Golden Sparrow has wasted no time in making its first investment from the fund. The firm has chosen to back Sentra.world, a promising SaaS startup that specializes in the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) segment. In addition, Golden Sparrow is actively evaluating several other AI and SaaS startups in India, signaling its commitment to supporting emerging ventures in the region.

The emergence of new funds targeting Indian startups, such as Sequoia Capital India, Tiger Global Management, and Accel Partners, highlights the increasing interest in India's thriving startup ecosystem. With its abundance of tech talent and growing appeal as an investment destination, India has become an attractive market for venture capital firms.
