Sridhar Vembu
Indian SaaS giant Zoho Corp founder Sridhar Vembu on Thursday dismissed rumors of a potential entry into politics, saying he “burst out laughing” upon hearing such speculation.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Vembu emphasized he has “ZERO discussions with anyone” regarding political ambitions and remains entirely focused on his new role in deep tech research and development.
Vembu noted that he is currently preparing to present Zoho’s research and development strategy for artificial intelligence to industry analysts in Austin, Texas, next week. He added there is “just no way, NO WAY” he could find time for politics, given the demands of his role.
The tech entrepreneur, known for his humble lifestyle, recently stepped down as CEO of Zoho to become the company’s chief scientist, concentrating on advanced R&D initiatives.
"I hope that clears that up. Back to work!" he added.
“A new chapter begins today,” Vembu wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “It has been decided that it is best that I should focus full time on R&D initiatives, along with pursuing my personal rural development mission.”
Co-founder Shailesh Kumar Davey will become Zoho’s new group CEO. Vembu said Tony Thomas, also a co-founder, will head Zoho’s U.S. division; Rajesh Ganesan will lead ManageEngine; and Mani Vembu will assume leadership of Zoho.com.
I heard there is a "news" item going around about me joining politics. I burst out laughing when I heard this!
