'I guess karma has a way of biting back': Zerodha's Nithin Kamath on keeping his phone always on silent

The billionaire co-founder of Zerodha, Nithin Kamath, in a recent post on X, recalled his early days as a call centre worker when he used to make unsolicited calls to people in the US. 

Kamath was talking about how his phone has become unusable due to telemarketing.

"My phone has become unusable due to telemarketing and is always silent. Guess what goes around comes around," Kamath wrote.

"I spent four years at a call centre, making unsolicited calls to people in the US. I guess Karma has a way of biting back," he added.

The post, first shared on May 04, has garnered over 330,000 views and nearly 5,000 likes. Many took to the comment section to express their frustration with telemarketing calls.

In response to Kamath's post, Truecaller CEO Alan Mamedi wrote, "Karma is tough sometimes :) in the meantime, we are trying hard to bring Truecaller to its full potential on iOS. Cc tim_cook and Apple".

"9/10 calls are spam and selling unwanted stuff. Voice calls will be dead and data only will win . matter of time," a user wrote.

"We didn’t do any such calls But still we face the same problem My phone is always on mute and I pickup only saved contact phone numbers and each missed I have to check first in true caller app to ascertain if i need to call back Phone has become a big mess due to telemarketing," another wrote. 

"There needs to be a major change in the  DND implementation. The current system has not worked at all. Unsolicited calls for stock tips, donations. And then there is unsolicited smses. @TRAI," a third shared.
