Harsh Jain and MN Srinivasu
The Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) has appointed MN Srinivasu, co-founder of digital payments company BillDesk, as its new chairman for a two-year term.
Srinivasu succeeds Harsh Jain, co-founder and CEO of Dream Sports, who held the position since May 2023. The leadership transition will take effect following IAMAI's upcoming annual general meeting.
Joining Srinivasu in the executive council are Harshil Mathur, co-founder and CEO of Razorpay, as vice chairman, and Sameer Nigam, founder and CEO of PhonePe, as treasurer. The trio will lead the body alongside IAMAI president Dr. Subho Ray, who serves as the ex-officio member of the council.
The election comes at a pivotal time for IAMAI, a not-for-profit industry body that represents over 600 Indian and multinational corporations spanning technology, internet services, mobile platforms, and startups. The new 24-member governing council will serve from 2025 to 2027.
The previous IAMAI election cycle, held in 2023, had been mired in controversy, with some members accusing the then-executive council of favouring Big Tech companies over domestic internet startups. Against this backdrop, the election of Srinivasu—whose company was instrumental in shaping India's early digital payments infrastructure—marks a return to leadership from India's fintech ecosystem.
Before Jain, the chairman role was held by Sanjay Gupta, vice president and country manager of Google India, underlining the influence of global tech firms in past cycles.
