IIT Alumni Council To Set Up 6 Research Center For The Indian Startups

According to the reports, IIT Alumni council members decided to set up six research centers for the Indian startups.

The council is setting up the research center to make the modern equipment and research tools in six cutting-edge domains available to startups registered with its MegaIncubator initiative.

The council will also be building the world's largest COVID-19 testing lab in the world's largest virology Megalab based in Mumbai to tests COVID-19 patients.

Earlier this year, The IIT Alumni council also launched the Rs 21000 crores fundraising for the Megalabs.

The proposed research centers are in engineered biomolecules, quantum technologies, nuclear sciences, imaging AI, electric transportation, and fintech. the council said in the statement.

Furthermore, After the completion of the development of the Megalabs by September, it will have the capacity for 1 crore tests for the COVID-19 affected patients.

After the successful completion of the Megalabs development, The proposed research centers will be operational from the next year 2021.

Moreover, IIT Alumni President, Ravi Sharma said, "The objective of the council is to help the accelerated deployment of cutting edge technologies by playing a lead role in revitalizing the incubator and startup ecosystem in high-tech domains"

Startups can register with Mega Incubator in addition to their host incubator to connect with partner incubators and affiliate research centers.

It was said, adding the other research centers will be either collocated with or be established in the vicinity of existing government and academic institutions that specialize in these areas.
