IIT Bombay students impress Anand Mahindra with their world-first foldable diamond E-Bike

In a world increasingly leaning towards sustainable transportation, innovations in the e-bike segment are capturing attention. Leading the charge in endorsing such groundbreaking ventures is Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra.

Recently, The billionaire took to X to share his personal experience, giving his followers a glimpse of him riding the world's first foldable diamond frame e-bike.

What are the features of Hornback X1?

The world's first foldable diamond frame e-bike was created by IIT Bombay students Nishith Parikh and Rajkumar Kewat.

The Hornback X1 starts with an introductory price of Rs 44,999  and is made by Shark Tank India-featured Hornback Cycles. The e-bike has a 250W motor and a 36V battery. It can travel up to 70 km on a single charge and has a top speed of 25 km/h. Apart from this, It also has an LCD Multi-Information display with a speedometer.

"The bike is not only 35% more efficient than other foldable bikes but it makes the bike stable at higher than medium speed," Mahindra wrote in a tweet.

According to Anand Mahindra, who is also an investor in Hornback Cycles, the Hornback e-bikes are lightweight, weighing just 15 kg and can be easily folded and unfolded in mere seconds. He added that the e-bikes are available on both Amazon and Flipkart.
