On World Cancer Day, the Indian Cancer Society (ICS), in partnership with Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre (RGCIRC) and Roche Products (India), introduced the 'Rise Against Cancer' mobile app.
The launch aims to address the critical challenge of cancer awareness in India, where approximately 1.3 million people are diagnosed annually.
The app is described as a comprehensive and multilingual platform and seeks to empower individuals with information and resources to combat cancer effectively.
What are the features of the app?
The 'Rise Against Cancer' app is designed to serve as a holistic resource for those affected by cancer and their families. It features a variety of sections including an information hub, resource library, events, community and support groups, and a dedicated news and updates section.
Initially focusing on four major types of cancer—breast, cervical, mouth, and lung—the app provides crucial information for early detection and awareness.
Additionally, it offers support for caregivers and guidance on palliative care, emphasizing the importance of living pain-free.
Aims to reach 40 million people
The society aims to reach at least 40 million people in India. Notably, the app is available in five languages—Hindi, English, Kannada, Marathi, and Bengali—with plans to add more features and languages.
The initiative leverages mobile technology to offer comprehensive information and guidance to transform the landscape of cancer prevention and care.
