Krutrim, the artificial intelligence (AI) startup founded by Ola’s Bhavish Aggarwal, has acquired BharatSah’AI’yak, a public-sector-focused AI platform from technology consulting firm Samagra. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Launched in 2023, Krutrim has been building a full-stack AI ecosystem with proprietary models spanning language, vision, and speech. The acquisition marks a strategic push into government partnerships and real-world applications of its technology, especially across sectors such as healthcare, education, and public administration.

“This integration enhances our ability to build AI that is inclusive, intuitive, and deeply rooted in the lived realities of India,” a Krutrim spokesperson said. “We remain committed towards making ‘AI for all’ a reality.”

As part of the deal, Krutrim has also absorbed BharatSah’AI’yak core team, which played a key role in deploying AI-powered solutions such as the chatbot KumbhSahAIyak. Developed for Maha Kumbh 2025, the chatbot provided pilgrims with round-the-clock support for rituals, navigation, accommodations, and local attractions, powered by Krutrim’s open-source LLM services.

The acquisition is expected to deepen Krutrim’s collaborations with government agencies by combining BharatSahAIyak’s on-ground experience with Krutrim’s technical infrastructure. Krutrim plans to scale BharatSahAIyak nationwide using its own AI models, agentic platform "Kruti," and cloud infrastructure.

The AI unicorn has also launched Krutrim AI Lab and BharatBench, an open-source initiative aimed at accelerating Indian AI research. It is in the process of expanding its data center capacity to 1 gigawatt by 2028, backed by a $1.2 billion capital commitment by next year.

Krutrim entered the unicorn club in January 2024 after raising $50 million from investors including Z47 (formerly Matrix Partners India), the Sarin Family, and others.
