Jio Platforms Limited announced plans at Mobile World Congress 2025 to partner with AMD, Cisco, and Nokia on a new Open Telecom AI Platform that aims to boost efficiency, security, and revenue opportunities for telecom providers worldwide.
Jio, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, will be the first customer, providing a blueprint for global operators looking to adopt AI-driven network solutions.
Building an open telecom AI platform
The platform will combine large language models, specialized small language models, and other AI technologies to analyze and manage a wide range of telecom data, from network events and alarms to logs, images, and customer interactions.
According to Jio Platforms, the goal is to move beyond basic automation and create autonomous networks capable of adapting in real time to changing conditions.
These capabilities will allow operators to streamline operations, improve security, cut costs, and deliver stronger user experiences.
Leadership comments
Mathew Oommen, group CEO at Reliance Jio, said the collaboration with AMD, Cisco, and Nokia would result in a “multimodal, multidomain orchestrated workflow platform” that reshapes how telecom providers handle network intelligence.
"In collaboration with AMD, Cisco, and Nokia, Jio is advancing the Open Telecom AI Platform to transform networks into self-optimizing, customer-aware ecosystems. This initiative goes beyond automation—it’s about enabling AI-driven, autonomous networks that adapt in real time, enhance user experiences, and create new service and revenue opportunities across the digital ecosystem," Oommen added.
AMD Chair and CEO Lisa Su said the company’s high-performance CPUs, GPUs, and adaptive computing solutions will support more secure and scalable networks.
"“By leveraging our broad portfolio of high-performance CPUs, GPUs, and adaptive computing solutions, service providers will be able to create more secure, efficient, and scalable networks. Together we can bring the transformational benefits of AI to both operators and users and enable innovative services that will shape the future of communications and connectivity," Lisa added,
Chuck Robbins, chair and CEO at Cisco, noted his firm’s products in areas such as networking, compute, analytics, and AI defense will integrate with the new platform to improve efficiency and security.
Pekka Lundmark, president and CEO of Nokia, said Nokia’s expertise across radio access, core, and transport networks will ensure that Jio’s network investments can be optimized and monetized with the help of AI.
Jio’s role and industry impact
Jio will serve as the model deployment, with the platform designed to be easily replicated by other providers. Officials from the partner companies said they expect the initiative to accelerate the adoption of AI across telecom and digital services, opening doors to intelligent automation and advanced analytics in areas such as enterprise solutions and next-generation consumer applications.
Jio Platforms, through its subsidiary Reliance Jio Infocomm, has built an all-IP network that supports 4G and 5G technologies. Since its launch, Jio has played a key role in India’s digital transformation, driving affordable data access and building a comprehensive ecosystem of devices, content, and services.
