According to recent reports, many iPhone 16 users are complaining about the new camera software, stating that it has significantly declined in quality compared to previous versions, with particular criticism directed towards the "Camera Control and User interface".
The discontent has become so widespread that some are switching to other devices—or considering a switch.
One high-profile complaint came from Vijay Shekhar Sharma, CEO of Indian fintech giant Paytm. CEO Sharma took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote: "I am surprised how the iPhone killed its camera (software / app) so badly in 16. It is so bad that I am seriously thinking of a Pixel now. Anyone else going through the same struggles?"

The post drew a flood of replies, including suggestions from users who have already traded their iPhones for competing brands like Samsung and Google.

“The Pixel is fab! Migrated from iPhone to it," another wrote.

Here is what I feel:
- iPhone has better quality of apps + is overall reliable + video shooting is better than anything.
- Pixel software experience is good + camera for photos is definitely better than iPhone.
"I thought iPhone 16pro max is best hardware out there, was hoping to upgrade from my 12 .. perhaps OS issues ?" a third asked.
iPhone 6 as the last iPhone with innovation.

Later ones are more glamourous with technical features. Now the last 3 versions are just replicas
"It's interesting to note that Google’s Pixel phones are known for their advanced computational photography, which often outshines traditional camera hardware. Apple's focus on sleek design sometimes compromises functionality in software updates. Many users find that software changes can dramatically alter performance, sparking discussions like this one," a fourth noted.
