In a view to becoming One-Stop-Shop Travel Portal, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has launched its new bus booking service by partnering with more than 50,000 state road transports and private bus operators to provide bus booking service to the customers.

The booking service first went live on the IRCTC's official website on January 29, 2021. While the service on the IRCTC mobile app is expected to be launched in the first week of March 2021.

Following the leadership of the Ministry of Railways, Ministry Of Commerce and Industry, and Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution is gradually moving towards firmly positioning itself as the first government "One Stop Shop Travel Portal" of the country, the company said.

"In a recent development for providing a more holistic travel experience to the customers, IRCTC that is already in the business of online rail and flight tickets booking launched its online bus booking services that went live for the service of the nation on 29th January 2021," the company added.

IRCTC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with states including Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, and Gujarat to provide bus booking services to customers.

The newly launched service will also allow customers to choose the appropriate bus for travel considering route, amenities, reviews, ratings, and bus images available. Additionally, Customers will also be able to choose their pick-up and drop location at a reasonable price.

In October 2020, E-commerce major Amazon had partnered with IRCTC to allow its customers to book train tickets using Amazon's official app.
