The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has partnered with food delivery company Swiggy for the supply and delivery of pre-ordered meals at select railway stations.
During the initial stage, The company will provide services to IRCTC customers at four railway stations – Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam. Notably, the services will be expanded to other stations following the completion of the first phase.
Providing passengers with the convenience of ordering meals
The partnership with Swiggy will enable passengers to order meals in advance via the IRCTC's e-catering portal. The development is part of IRCTC's broader strategy to diversify and improve its catering services by partnering with leading food delivery platforms.
Previously, The ticket booking platform partnered with Zomato to serve passengers at several other stations.
How the service works
To avail of this service, passengers simply need to enter their PNR on the IRCTC e-catering portal, select a restaurant, and choose their meals. The platform offers the flexibility of scheduling orders and opting for online payment or cash on delivery.
The ordered meals will then be delivered directly to the passengers' seats, ensuring a convenient and seamless dining experience during their journey.
