Tadiran Telecom, a unified communications company from Israel, is set to invest $10 million annually in India to manufacture 100,000 IP telephones every year.
The company has partnered with DCM Shriram for the production of these phones, marking a significant step in Tadiran's 26-year journey in India.
IP telephones, which are commonly used by businesses, enable advanced communication features like conference calls through apps.
Tadiran CEO highlights second phase of expansion
Tadiran CEO Moshe Mitz announced the initiative at a recent event, highlighting that the company might increase its investment during a second phase of expansion, which will also include software development.
"This is a conservative number. We have allocated $10 million for the first year of our manufacturing project. Investments will rise based on performance," Mitz said.
The first phase focuses on hardware manufacturing, while phase two will explore collaboration with Indian software firms to develop advanced solutions. Mitz revealed that discussions with an Indian software giant are already underway.
Currently, 70% of Tadiran's global business stems from software, with 30% from hardware.
Aiming to make equipment for govt
Notably, Tadiran will make class 2 equipment -- a category which qualifies for government procurement with immediate effect.
"Tadiran Telecom has technology. We are putting in place a dedicated team for manufacturing their products. Besides manufacturing, our group will provide them with all supply chain support to Tadiran Telecom, including warehousing, logistics etc," said DCM Shriram President Rudra Shriram.
