Sophos, a global leader in cybersecurity solutions, has announced the appointment of Joe Levy as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Levy, who has been with the company for nine years and has been acting as CEO since February 15, brings nearly three decades of experience in cybersecurity product development and leadership.
During his time at Sophos, Levy has transformed the company from a product-focused vendor to a global cybersecurity powerhouse.
Strategic focus on the midmarket sector
One of Levy’s primary goals is to expand Sophos’ customer base within the midmarket sector, which currently includes around 600,000 customers and generates over $1.2 billion in annual revenue.
Levy aims to enhance the cybersecurity capabilities of smaller organizations, especially those within critical infrastructure sectors that are highly susceptible to cyberattacks. He emphasizes improving their detection and disruption of inevitable cyberattacks by collaborating with managed security providers (MSPs) and channel partners.
New CFO appointment to support growth
To support this strategic direction, Levy has appointed Jim Dildine as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and a member of the senior management team. Dildine brings more than 30 years of experience in technology and finance, having previously served as CFO at cybersecurity firms like Imperva and Symantec. Levy believes that Dildine’s operational expertise and experience in channel partner-based cybersecurity businesses will be instrumental in driving Sophos to new growth levels.
Innovations and enhancements under Levy's tenure
During his tenure at Sophos, Levy has been pivotal in establishing key services and innovations. He set up the incident response team and managed detection and response (MDR) service, which now protects over 21,000 organizations worldwide.
Additionally, he created SophosAI and Sophos X-Ops, an operational threat intelligence unit that integrates over 500 cybersecurity operators and threat intelligence experts.
