Mukesh Ambani's JioCinema partners with Krafton to stream BGMI Series 2023

The upcoming BGMI tournament 'BGIS' will witness over 2,000 teams competing for a prize pool of Rs 2 crore, with Rs 75 lakh up for grabs for the winner.

Mukesh Ambani's JioCinema has partnered with South Korea-based Krafton, a gaming company known for PUBG and BGMI, to live stream the upcoming Battleground Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2023 on its platform.

Earlier this year, JioCinema acquired the TATA IPL's streaming rights for $2.7 billion to live stream the IPL matches on its OTT platform for free. The latest moves come amid JioCinema is ramping up its user base in order to compete with other giant OTTs like Disney+ Hotstar, VOOT, and MX Player, among others. 

According to the company's statement, The upcoming BGMI tournament 'BGIS' will witness over 2,000 teams competing for a prize pool of Rs 2 crore, with Rs 75 lakh up for grabs for the winner.

The company further said that BGMI fans can watch the live stream starting with the final round of The Grind from August 17-20, followed by Round 1 of BGIS 2023 streaming from August 31 onwards.

The Grand Finals of the tournament will be streamed from October 12 to 14 on JioCinema. The matches will be streamed from 1 pm to 6 pm, according to the schedule. Notably, BGIS will feature Hindi and English commentary for all preliminary matches and culminate in a grand finale, the company added.

Earlier this week, Krafton announced its commitment to invest $150 million in Indian gaming startups over the next two to three years.

Since 2021, BGMI and PUBG maker has invested $140 million in 11 Indian startups, including Nodwin Gaming, Loco, Pratilipi, and Kuku FM.
