Digital lending startup KreditBee, which is currently based in Singapore, is planning to relocate its headquarters to India, according to Entrackr report.

The move places KreditBee among several fintech and tech companies shifting their base back to India from places like Singapore and the US, including Delaware.

Challenges while shifting base to India

Shifting the base to India has its own set of challenges. The report said that KreditBee has been diligently working with regulators to understand the implications of their move, especially regarding tax liabilities.

The process involves considerable financial planning due to potential hefty taxes and the need for funding, which could affect the company’s valuation and stakeholder interests.

How will this impact KreditBee’s growth?

The shift to India is seen as a strategic step towards a potential Initial Public Offering (IPO) by 2027. KreditBee, which offers personal loans and has demonstrated strong financial performance, views this move as a step that aligns with its long-term growth plans, the report said.

So far, the startup has raised over Rs 280 crore in funding from investors, including Mirae Asset Venture Investment, NewQuest Capital Partners, Motilal Oswal Private Equity, Wiseanya, MUFG Bank, Premji Invest, Advent International, and Archerman Capital.
