Logistics firm Delhivery will set up a new subsidiary to enter the drone manufacturing and drone delivery services space.
The company will establish a wholly-owned subsidiary, Delhivery Robotics Private Limited, with a proposed authorized capital of Rs 5 crore.
The company's strategy will focus on four main areas. First, it will prioritize research and development in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology, exploring various form factors and payload capabilities to achieve type certification and commercialization.
Secondly, the company will offer drone-as-a-service (DaaS) solutions for shipment movement and remote sensing, providing advanced logistical and data-gathering capabilities.
In addition to these services, the company will establish a comprehensive drone pilot training program. This will focus on equipping individuals with the necessary skills and certifications to operate drones safely and effectively.
Lastly, It will focus on manufacturing, producing, and selling drones globally, involving third-party manufacturing, procurement of components and flight trials.
It's worth noting that Delhivery acquired US-based Transition Robotics in 2022. California-based Transition was focused on developing unmanned aerial system platforms, and with the acquisition, all its intellectual property registered in the US was assigned to Delhivery.
