BrowserStack acquires Requestly

BrowserStack, the Mumbai-based cloud testing platform, has acquired Requestly, a Y Combinator-backed startup known for its browser-based tools that help developers intercept, modify, and mock API requests in real time.

With this move, BrowserStack aims to expand its developer productivity suite and offer a stronger solution for frontend development, particularly in speeding up the debugging and testing of web applications. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Requestly's market presence

Requestly, which started as a JavaScript testing tool in 2018, has evolved into a comprehensive HTTP interception and mocking platform. It now serves more than 200,000 developers across over 10,000 companies.

With backing from Y Combinator and Peak XV, the startup has built a reputation for simplifying the often frustrating process of frontend debugging, which typically depends on backend systems or unreliable environments.

Leadership comments

Commenting on the acquisition, Sachin Jain, founder of Requestly, said, “Requestly was born from our own frustration of wasted developer hours due to broken workflows in end-to-end code testing caused by dependency on the environment and backend team. Joining BrowserStack means we can maintain our core values while accelerating our roadmap to address even more developer pain points.”

Ritesh Arora, co-founder and CEO of BrowserStack, emphasized that the acquisition complements their goal of building a robust suite of tools for modern developers.

“We’re excited to accelerate Requestly’s disruption of the API mocking and interception space while preserving its open-source foundation. We’re backing Requestly’s growth while maintaining what developers love about it—this will help them innovate faster in a space ready for fresh thinking,” Arora said.

Focus on the future of testing

Requestly's tool, which has a 4.3-star rating on the Chrome Web Store, integrates seamlessly into browser workflows and requires no complicated configurations. It allows developers to run tests with mocked data even before backend systems are ready—offering faster iteration cycles and fewer blockers in the development process.

The tool will continue to be available as a free, open-source solution, and BrowserStack plans to enhance its capabilities, including support for Android emulators and iOS simulators.

This acquisition follows BrowserStack’s February launch of an AI-powered QA platform that streamlines testing from planning to debugging.

Founded in 2011, BrowserStack counts major companies such as Amazon, Nvidia, Microsoft, MongoDB, and X (formerly Twitter) among its clients. With Requestly now in its portfolio, BrowserStack is doubling down on its commitment to empower developers with cutting-edge tools for faster, more efficient development.
