NACOF Oorja, supported by the National Federation of Farmers’ Procurement, Processing and Retailing Cooperatives of India Ltd (NACOF), has announced the launch of a new Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), E ASTRA NACOF OORJA Pvt Ltd.

The launch is aimed at promoting sustainable farming across India and enhancing the profitability of cultivation through advanced technology.

The newly established SPV will serve as the agricultural mobility wing of NACOF Oorja, providing the Indian farming community with battery-operated equipment and vehicles.

The lineup includes innovative tools such as the E-Weeder, E-Reaper, E-Brush Cutter, and the E-Cargo multi-utility 3-wheeler. Additionally, the launch includes a 20-litre Milking Cum Chiller unit designed for sustainable dairy farming.

Technological advancements

In a strategic expansion, E ASTRA has also inaugurated an Advanced Technology Centre.

The facility has developed a pioneering Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) based on electric vehicle range extender technology. This unit governs all functions of an electric vehicle (EV) and underscores the SPV’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge technologies to support sustainable agricultural practices.

Leadership comments

Shri Ram Iqbal Singh, Chairman, NACOF OORJA, described the company’s vision behind the SPV, by saying, “Our commitment to contribute to the effort of establishing India as a developed nation played a significant role behind this new initiative. Farmers are our Annadata, and to assist their community with cutting-edge indigenous and affordable agricultural equipment that runs on clean energy will multiply their productivity. Also, our digital farming solutions consisting of Artificial Intelligence and data analysis will help them with invaluable information regarding the crop status, weather updates as well as irrigation, streamlining the efforts in a hassle-free way.”

Suresh Babu P, Managing Director, NACOF OORJA, also had similar thoughts, which he shared by saying, “Sustainable agriculture is the need of the hour. Our farmers need all the help they can get and by aligning our superior equipment and mobility products with their requirements, we can empower them to increase their productivity while ensuring farming remains a profitable way of income for them. The primary objective of the SPV remains to empower the Indian farmers with cutting-edge technology and mechanising their efforts, bringing them at par with the latest practices in agriculture, and we are confident of our ability to achieve this target.”

Aligning with the Make in India initiative

E ASTRA NACOF OORJA's offerings are designed and manufactured in India, aligning with the Make in India initiative and significantly increasing the company's footprint in the agricultural sector.

Following a recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Nashik-based electric mobility startup, NACOF Oorja is poised to further enhance rural and agricultural mobility, demonstrating a robust plan for expanding its influence and support to the farming community.
