Mumbai-based gaming and esports company Nazara Technologies has secured the 8th position on the global list of gaming acquirers, according to the latest report by Drake Star Partners' Global Gaming Report for Q2 2024.

The report, published by global tech investment bank Drake Star, underscores Naziara's impressive deal value of $42.6 million.

Notably, the Indian gaming company has surpassed well-known companies such as MTG and Atari, which ranked ninth and tenth, respectively.

Nitish Mittersain, CEO and Founder of Nazara Technologies expressed his enthusiasm about this milestone, stating, “This is extremely encouraging as Nazara is set for more international acquisitions in 2024. We are honored to be recognized on the global stage. This ranking is not just a win for Nazara but for the entire Indian gaming community. Together, we are making India a global gaming giant to reckon with.”

He emphasized that this achievement marks a pivotal moment for both Nazara and the Indian gaming industry, showcasing India's growing influence in the global gaming landscape.

Strategic focus on emerging technologies

Nazara Technologies has set its sights on identifying opportunities within the gaming, esports, and adtech sectors internationally.

The company is particularly interested in established gaming IPs and studios, especially those advancing in cutting-edge technologies like Web3, Virtual Reality, and AI.

Earlier this year, Nazara earmarked $100 million for mergers and acquisitions (M&A). This substantial investment is part of Nazara's strategy to expand its global footprint and maintain its growth trajectory.

Significant acquisitions and investments

Nazara has been an aggressive investor in both the Indian and international gaming ecosystems.

The company recently acquired Freaks4U and ComicCon India through its subsidiary, Nodwin Gaming. It also acquired the intellectual property rights of Ultimate Teen Patti from Games24X7.

Additionally, Nazara holds the rights to Animal Jam and Kiddopia, which are leading IPs in their respective segments.

In the sports gaming space, Nazara owns the popular World Cricket Championship (WCC) game titles, which are highly regarded globally.
