X (formerly Twitter) owner Elon Musk, who is already the world’s richest person with a net worth of nearly $242 billion, is on track to become the world’s first trillionaire by 2027, according to a report by Informa Connect Academy.

The report is based on the average annual growth rate of these billionaires' wealth.

Gautam Adani to become first Indian trillionaire

Following Musk, Indian billionaire Gautam Adani is expected to become the world’s second trillionaire by 2028, with a higher annual growth rate of 122.86%.

Notably, Adani’s rapid rise is set to outpace his fellow Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani, who, despite being India's richest person currently, is projected to reach the trillionaire status much later by 2033.

Ambani's slower growth rate of 28.25% positions him at eighth on the list, behind other billionaires like Jensen Huang (2028), Prajogo Pangestu (2028), Bernard Arnault & family (2030), Mark Zuckerberg (2030), and Phil Knight & family (2030).

Who else could become a trillionaire?

The list also mentions 20 other billionaires projected to reach trillionaire status in the coming years.

Some of them are Michael Dell (2033), Steve Ballmer (2034), Larry Ellison (2035), Jeff Bezos (2036), Larry Page (2036), Sergey Brin (2036), Zhang Yiming (2037), Francoise Bettencourt Meyers & family (2040), Michael Bloomberg (2041), Warren Buffett (2042), Amancio Ortega (2043), David Thomson & family (2043), Carlos Slim Helu & family (2046), Jim Walton & family (2046), Rob Walton & family (2047), Giovanni Ferrero (2047), Tadashi Yanai & family (2048), Julia Koch & family (2050), Alice Walton (2051), Bill Gates (2054).

U.S. to have the highest number of trillionaires

The report indicates that the United States is on track to lead as the global leader in wealth accumulation, with 17 out of the 28 billionaires expected to become trillionaires from the country.

India and France follow, each with two billionaires projected to reach trillionaire status.

Meanwhile, countries including China, Indonesia, Spain, Canada, Mexico, Italy, and Japan are each projected to have one future trillionaire.
