Bengaluru-based EV giant Ola Electric announced the appointment of Pritam Das Mohapatra as its new company secretary and compliance officer, effective December 30, 2024.
The decision was approved by the board of directors on the same day and comes two months after the resignation of the previous compliance officer.
Company founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal welcomed Mohapatra’s entry into this key role, highlighting the need for robust corporate governance as Ola Electric continues to expand its market presence.
Mohapatra's experience
Mohapatra is an associate member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, and he holds both a law degree and a bachelor’s degree in commerce. He brings more than 14 years of experience in corporate law, regulatory compliance, fundraising, and corporate governance.
Before joining Ola Electric, he held positions at organizations such as Merabo Labs Private Limited, ANI Technologies Private Limited, Ola Fleet Technologies Private Limited, and Zuari InfraWorld India Limited. He has no familial or other relationships with the board members of Ola Electric, ensuring an independent approach to his role.
Focus on strengthening compliance
As company secretary and compliance officer, Mohapatra will be responsible for overseeing Ola Electric’s adherence to regulations set by the Securities and Exchange Board of India and other governing bodies.
His background in corporate governance and IPO listings is expected to bolster the company’s efforts to maintain strict compliance standards. Ola Electric confirmed that Mohapatra’s appointment complies with relevant guidelines, reflecting the board’s commitment to strong governance practices.
Recent leadership changes
Ola Electric has seen several leadership shifts in recent weeks, with the departure of two senior management personnel. Chief Marketing Officer Anshul Khandelwal and Chief Technology and Product Officer Suvonil Chatterjee both stepped down from their roles recently, according to a company statement.
Despite these changes, Ola Electric remains focused on refining its leadership team to support its long-term growth plans. The company believes the arrival of Mohapatra will reinforce its commitment to transparency and corporate responsibility as it continues to innovate in the Indian electric mobility market.
