Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte has launched OYO’s Accelerator Program in the state to mentor and support small first-generation hoteliers.

During a ceremony in Panaji, Khaunte presented cheques amounting to Rs 25 lakh to five program beneficiaries, including hoteliers from Panaji, Calangute and Margao. OYO’s Chief Operating Officer, Varun Jain, was also present at the event.

Focus on first-generation hoteliers

The Accelerator Program aims to help small hotel operators expand their businesses and improve profitability through mentorship, technology integration, relationship managers and financial support.

This approach also gives participants access to OYO’s wide network of corporate accounts and travel agents across India.

One of the beneficiaries of the scheme, Roshan Oscar Abraam Lorena said "As an independent hotel operator, navigating the complexities of scaling up has always been a challenge. This initiative has not only empowered me with the tools and resources I needed but has also opened new doors for my business expansion, something I had been struggling with for a long time. I can now focus on offering superior guest experience while leveraging OYO's expertise to grow sustainably”.

Growth plans and job creation

OYO plans to add over 500 hotels in Goa under this initiative, creating more than 5,000 new jobs over the next year. These properties will be located in north, central and south Goa, aligning with the state government’s goal of sustainable tourism.

The company is also working to increase its premium hotel footprint in India through brands such as Townhouse Oak, OYO Townhouse, Collection O and Capital O.

Leadership comments

“The Accelerator Program not only aligns with our vision of sustainable tourism but also provides a platform for small and mid-sized businesses to scale up their operations through strategic mentorship, technology integration, and financial support. This initiative underscores our collective responsibility to ensure that Goa remains at the forefront of global travel destinations while preserving its unique charm and heritage", said tourism minister Rohan Khaunte.

Speaking on the development, Varun Jain, chief operating officer, OYO said “We are excited to partner with Goa’s aspiring hoteliers, helping them realise their business potential. Our confidence in the success of this Program in Goa stems from the proven results we have witnessed in other states where it has already been implemented. These efforts have significantly increased occupancy rates and profitability for participating partners, while also enhancing the overall experience for the guests”.

Technology-driven solutions

To support its partners, OYO has simplified and modernized its technology platform. Its revamped digital tools help hoteliers design and run their own promotional offers, boost occupancy and maximize revenue.

Through an AI-based onboarding tool called OYO 360, properties can go live on OYO’s platform within 30 minutes, making it easier for hotel owners to tap into a large customer base and streamline their operations.
