Paytm founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma, in a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), said that talking to ChatGPT is like talking Taylor Swift to a grandfather who is from the Bono and Roger Waters era.
"Perplexity is perpetually intelligent. Then and now," Sharma wrote.
He noted ChatGPT's data mining limit as its models are updated to a certain date.

Perplexity is perpetually intelligent. Then and now.
(This is because chat GPT has limit on data mining to a date on its models. So for recent events it won’t be logically good) https://t.co/4pHVIX9d4r
ChatGPT vs Perplexity AI
Sharma was responding to Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas' post, which highlighted a comparison between ChatGPT and Perplexity in terms of handling up-to-date information.
In the comparison, Perplexity provided a more specific and timely answer to a query about the restriction of X in Brazil, pointing out the direct cause—non-compliance with a judicial order by Elon Musk's company, while ChatGPT offered a more general response without current details.
Aravind Srinivas shared two screenshots, one from ChatGPT and the other from Perplexity, showcasing their responses to a query about the restriction of X in Brazil.
He posted these screenshots in response to a question posed by a user named Arap Muk, who asked, "Are there any strong reasons why one should choose Perplexity over ChatGPT for search?"
