Reliance Jio Partners With MediaTek To Host 70-Days ‘Free Fire’ Tournament

Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio, On December 29, announced the partnership with Taiwan-based semiconductor manufacturer MediaTek to launch the 'GamingMasters' esports tournament.

Reliance Jio and MediaTek will launch a 70 day 'Free Fire' tournament, which will be conducted between January 13 and March 17, 2021. The tournament will have a prize pool of Rs 12.5 lakh and will be live-streamed on the JioTV App and YouTube.

According to the JioGames official report, The 1st runner-up will get Rs 3 lakh as a prize, followed by Rs 1 lakh for the second runner-up, and Rs 60,000 for the third runner-up. Notably, there are no registration fees involved for the tournament registration.

The development comes after the successful completion of JioGames recently launched online gaming event 'India Ka Gaming Champion'.

Reliance Jio had earlier partnered with mobile gaming company SuperCell to host 27 days India Ka Champion Clash Royal Tournament.

"The tournament is set to test gamer’s skill, teamwork, and endurance in a virtual gaming arena while vying for a prize pool of INR 12,50,000," the statement said.

This is the second partnership with MediaTek, In February 2018, It had partnered with MediaTek to develop an entry-level Android Go (Oreo) smartphone.

According to the Statista reports, The Indian mobile gaming industry is expected to reach $6.2 billion in revenue by the year 2025, currently stood at $3 billion. Further, the number of users is estimated to reach 233 million by 2025.
