G6 Hospitality

Ritesh Agarwal-led hospitality giant OYO has named Sonal Sinha as chief executive officer of G6 Hospitality, the U.S.-based motel chain it acquired last December from Blackstone Real Estate.

The deal added 1,500 franchised hotels under the G6 portfolio, including the Motel 6 and Studio 6 brands, to OYO’s existing North American operations, a move the company says will contribute roughly $1.7 billion to its projected $3 billion in global gross bookings.

What did Ritesh Agarwal say?

“Sonal has been instrumental in driving OYO’s international business to new heights,” said OYO founder and group CEO Ritesh Agarwal.

“His deep understanding of our operations and proven track record of enhancing business performance make him the ideal leader to spearhead G6 Hospitality while maintaining the strong momentum of our global business.”

Sinha's role at OYO

Sinha joined OYO in 2015. As the former chief financial officer of the company’s international business, he led several key initiatives to improve margins and standardize financial controls involving taxation, accounting, and reconciliations.

He will now oversee G6’s integration into OYO’s larger operations, reporting to Gautam Swaroop, OYO’s CEO for International.

OYO's Chief Growth Officer steps down

The company also confirmed that its chief growth officer, Kavikrut, is stepping down to become CEO of T-Hub, a large incubator in Telangana dedicated to fostering India’s startup ecosystem.

“Having been with us since our early startup days, Kavikrut has helped shape our culture and growth trajectory,” Agarwal commented.

“His vision and leadership have left a mark, and while we’ll miss him, I am delighted that he has chosen to pursue a role that will add immense value to Telangana and India’s tech and startup ecosystem.”
