Technology company Samsung has partnered with Sportskeeda to enhance its voice-assistant Bixby by integrating sports updates to make getting sports news more accessible for users in India.
The company has launched a new feature, named 'Bixby Cricket', which comes at a time when cricket fever is high, owing to ongoing and upcoming cricket tournaments.
How 'Bixby Cricket' works
Samsung said that users can interact with Bixby Cricket through Samsung devices by asking simple questions like “What’s the score?”, “Show the world cup points table”, or “Show me upcoming matches” to receive immediate updates.
According to the company, the service requires no additional installations for existing Bixby users and operates seamlessly across Samsung smartphones, televisions, and other devices.
Supporting the Indian startup ecosystem
The venture between Samsung and Sportskeeda is set to bring cricket updates to over 100 million fans.
“This integration showcases our commitment to delivering accurate and prompt sports information to fans right at their fingertips. Whether it is cricket matches from international arenas or local league showdowns, Bixby users can now revel in the excitement, through voice commands like never before," said Ajay Pratap Singh, CEO of Sportskeeda.
Samsung also aims to support the Indian start-up ecosystem with this launch, according to Balaji Hariharan, Senior Director at Samsung Research Institute.
Focusing on user experience
Bixby has grown into a versatile AI platform, and with the introduction of Indian English in its 2.0 update, it has become even more user-friendly for the Indian audience.
Samsung said that the feature is designed to deliver sports content even when users are engaged in other activities like driving or cooking, ensuring they remain informed without interrupting their tasks.
Samsung’s Vision for Bixby Cricket
The integration of cricket updates is a strategic move by Samsung to tap into India's cricket passion. It's not just about staying updated but enhancing the experience of cricket fandom in India, where the sport is a significant part of the cultural fabric.
Samsung believes 'Bixby Cricket' will add substantial value for cricket enthusiasts by keeping them connected to the game with ease.
