ShareChat appoints Google's Neha Markanda as Chief Business Officer

ShareChat, the Indian social media unicorn, has appointed Neha Markanda as chief business officer for its flagship ShareChat app and short-video platform Moj.

Markanda, who most recently served as head of industry for e-commerce at Google India, will succeed Gaurav Jain, who stepped down in June. In her new role, she will oversee revenue strategy, strengthen partnerships and drive growth across the platforms.

With more than 22 years of experience, Markanda has worked across consumer goods and technology companies, holding senior roles at Meta, GSK Consumer Healthcare India, PepsiCo, ITC Limited and HCL Technologies. At Google, she led the company’s health strategy and spearheaded AI-driven solutions in retail and health tech. Earlier, at Meta, she spent nearly three years as head of business marketing.

The appointment comes at a pivotal juncture for ShareChat’s parent, Mohalla Tech, which has recently achieved EBITDA profitability and is pursuing a revenue run rate of more than Rs 1,200 crore this year. The company operates with a combined monthly active user base of more than 325 million across ShareChat and Moj, making it one of the largest digital networks in India.
