Snowflake, an AI data cloud company, has announced a collaboration with FutureSkills Prime—a digital skilling initiative by Nasscom and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY)—to train more than 100,000 students and professionals in data and AI skills over the next two years.

The partnership will make use of Snowflake’s global upskilling program, One Million Minds + One Platform, to create free, on-demand, entry-level courses.

Addressing a growing skills gap

Nasscom has noted that India currently ranks first in AI skills penetration, and is among the global leaders in AI talent and research publications. Even so, there is a 51% gap between the number of skilled professionals available and the roles that need to be filled.

By 2026, the demand for data and AI professionals in India is expected to exceed one million, creating an urgent need for more trained graduates and working professionals.

FutureSkills Prime and campus integration

By partnering with FutureSkills Prime, Snowflake will gain direct access to more than 2,100 institutions that are part of Nasscom’s Academia network.

Snowflake’s training modules will be offered to undergraduates and postgraduates, starting from the second year of their degree or diploma programs, as well as to working professionals.

These courses will become part of the university curriculum, either as mandatory or optional programs, aligning with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The modules are also structured under the National Skills Qualification Framework to ensure students can receive academic credit for completing them.

Comprehensive learning pathways

Snowflake has created six free learning modules aimed at learners of different experience levels, from those just beginning their careers to those seeking advanced data and AI skills. The modules combine theoretical lessons and practical, hands-on exercises using Snowflake’s AI data platform. They also explore areas such as data management, SQL, and the basics of AI and machine learning.

Participants receive certifications from both Snowflake and Nasscom, improving their credentials and boosting their prospects in India’s rapidly expanding data and AI job market.
