Bengaluru-based social media analytics and SaaS startup Circus Social has raised $1 million (about Rs 7.3 crore) in a pre-Series A funding round led by Gurgaon-based Inflection Point Ventures, along with the participation from angel investors based in the United States, Singapore, and India.
The angel investors --- Saurabh Gupta, Ganesh Mohan (Bajaj Finserv), Samit Shetty (CEO of Navi Finserv), Royston Tay, and Yang Bin Kwok (Co-Founders of Zopim), and Srinivasan Venkita Padmanabhan (President of Olam Group) --- participated in the funding round.
Circus Social will infuse the funding to accelerate its growth in other regions, enhancing sales, engineering, and data science teams to drive better growth, the statement said. Founded in 2012 by IIT alumnus Ram Bhamidi and King's College London graduate Prerna Pant, Circus Social uses AI, big data, and machine learning to help businesses get actionable insights from social media and digital conversations in real-time.
The startup claims to have clients across multiple industries in over 15 countries, including PlayStation, Twitter, Singapore Tourism Board, Nikon, Kantar, Mastercard, Lexus, Prudential, to name a few. It has partnered with various data analytics platforms --- Datasift, SocialGist, LexisNexis, DataStreamx, and GNIP.
“Over 4 billion people are active on social media globally, collectively generating a massive amount of conversations, engagement and activity every day. Brands, marketers, researchers, analysts and businesses are struggling more than ever to make sense of all of this data in real-time," said Ram Bhamidi, Co-Founder & CEO of Circus Social.
"Our AI powered social listening and analytics platform uses big data architecture and AI/ML algorithms to empower companies with comprehensive data and actionable insights in real time,” he added.

The startup aims to scale its operations and offerings to accelerate growth across regions and globally, said Prerna Pant, COO of Circus Social.
