Vidyakul, a Gurugram-based state board-focused edtech startup, has elevated Akhil Hari Angira to the role of Co-founder and Chief Business Officer (CBO).
Angira joined Vidyakul as an intern in 2018 and has risen through the ranks to now head business growth.He is an electronics engineer and lawyer with nearly a decade of experience in IT management and on-ground operations.
What will Angira's new role entail?
In his new role as CBO, Angira will focus on driving revenue generation, profitability, strategic partnerships, and expanding Vidyakul’s reach in underserved areas.
The company's statement highlights that Angira will be responsible for business growth, ensuring that the startup continues to thrive and meet its goals.
Vidyakul aims to improve academic outcomes for students from low-income backgrounds by providing access to affordable and vernacular education.
What does Vidyakul do?
Founded in 2017 by Tarun Saini and Raman Garg, Vidyakul provides e-learning solutions for state board students of classes 9-12 in UP, Bihar, and Gujarat at a fee as low as Rs 300 per month.
The startup has raised Rs 21 crore in funding from various investors, including We Founder Circle (WFC), JITO Angel Network, SOSV, and Thinkuvate.
It claims to have scaled 15x and improved year-on-year revenue by 10x, maintaining positive unit economics. Vidyakul also launched ‘Sankalp Yatra 2024’ to establish free Digital Study Rooms in 500 villages and aims to reach over 5 million students on its app by early 2025.
