ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (India) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Telangana government to set up a major data centre campus near Hyderabad.
The agreement paves the way for investments of up to Rs 3,500 crore and highlights Telangana’s growing reputation as a preferred destination for large-scale technology infrastructure.
MoU signed in Singapore
The MoU was signed at the ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC) headquarters in Singapore in the presence of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, IT Minister D.S. Babu, Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, and TGIIC Managing Director Vishnu Vardhan Reddy.
Bruno Lopez, president and group CEO of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, led his team at the signing, where both parties expressed confidence in Telangana’s ability to support such a substantial project.
Focus on AI and future scalability
The planned data centre campus will be located in Meerkhanpet, Mucherla, on the outskirts of Hyderabad. It will feature cutting-edge technologies, including AI-ready infrastructure, and is expected to reach a capacity of up to 100 megawatts.
Notably, It will be one of the largest data centre projects in the country, with ample room for future expansion and innovations like artificial intelligence.
Chief Minister Reddy welcomed the project by saying the new facility would reinforce Hyderabad’s position as a global hub for data storage and tech-driven services. He added that the city is rapidly emerging as the “capital of data centres” in India.
Bruno Lopez said ST Telemedia Global Data Centres is honoured to collaborate with the Telangana government to strengthen the company’s presence in a state known for its progressive policies and commitment to digital growth. He noted that the joint effort supports economic expansion and employment opportunities while boosting India’s digital transformation.
Expanding the Telangana footprint
The MoU also aligns with STT GDC India’s broader goal of achieving a design capacity of 1 gigawatt across India in the coming decade, which translates into a long-term investment of about $3.2 billion.
STT GDC India already operates a data centre in Hyderabad’s HITEC City, and the new campus is expected to further solidify its presence in Telangana.
