Suhora Technologies secures IN-SPACe seed fund grant to advance maritime domain awareness

Indian space data analytics company Suhora Technologies today announced that it has been selected for the IN-SPACe Seed Fund Grant-in-Aid under the ‘Announcement of Opportunity for the Marine Sector using Space Technology’.

The announcement of opportunity in Marine Sector using Space Technologies under the IN-SPACe Seed Fund Scheme was made on July 16, 2024, to harness and drive a new era of growth of blue economy using the power of space technology.

IN-SPACe received a total of 45 proposals which were meticulously scrutinized by an expert committee consisting of space luminaries.

The scheme aims to promote solutions for improvement in ocean monitoring and mapping, enhancing maritime surveillance, and supporting disaster response efforts in coastal communities.

What does Suhora Technologies do?

Suhora Technologies is revolutionizing Earth Observation (EO) and geospatial analytics by integrating cutting-edge satellite imagery with advanced data analytics. The automated AI alerting engine detects dark ships, AIS anomalies, and illegal maritime activities, ensuring near real-time situational awareness.

The announcement by IN-SPACe comes at a time when downstream applications in space technology are taking precedence in multiple sectors and the government and defence sector is also adopting these applications to enhance efficiencies in various domains.

Market growth potential

According to the ISpA-nasscom-Deloitte report, the market for downstream spacetech segment is expected to reach ~$610 billion by 2031. Maritime Domain Awareness is one of the key strategic use cases for the Defence-Space industry under the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) domain.

In its endeavor to develop the private space ecosystem and promote space technology in the country, IN-SPACe announced the Seed Fund Scheme in December 2023. The scheme is designed to support space start-ups and micro & small industries (MSEs), those that aim to develop innovative space products and services that can improve the quality of life of people and communities in India and around the world.
