Harsha Majety-led Swiggy, which competes with Deepinder Goyal-led Zomato, has elevated Sidharth Bhakoo to the role of Chief Business Officer (CBO) for its food marketplace.
The announcement was made public through Bhakoo’s LinkedIn post, where he expressed his enthusiasm for taking on the role.
“I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Chief Business Officer – Food Marketplace at Swiggy,” Bhakoo wrote.
Bhakoo's journey at Swiggy began in June 2018 as the Associate Vice President (AVP) and Regional Business Head for North, East, and Central India.
Bhakoo's experience
Before joining Swiggy, Bhakoo built a strong foundation in the banking and telecom sectors. His career began at GE Money as a product manager for consumer durables and two-wheelers.
Later, he joined the Royal Bank of Scotland, where he held roles such as programme manager for business banking in India and senior relationship manager.
In the telecom industry, Bhakoo worked at Vodafone Business Services, advancing from senior manager for SME sales to General Manager (GM) and sales head.
At Vodafone, he led diverse teams across multiple functions, including customer service, technical pre-sales, and marketing, while managing critical sales budgets.
Bhakoo’s vast expertise in B2B sales, team management, and business development has proven instrumental in Swiggy’s regional and national business growth.
Leadership additions at Swiggy
Swiggy has recently made other significant leadership appointments to strengthen its organizational structure. Shalabh Shrivastava joined as Senior Vice President (SVP) of Driver Org, bringing over 25 years of experience in e-commerce, retail, and technology.
Additionally, Hari Kumar G has been appointed as SVP and Chief Business Officer for Swiggy Instamart, further fortifying the company’s focus on rapid grocery delivery.
With Bhakoo’s promotion, Swiggy aims to bolster its position in the competitive food delivery marketplace, leveraging his leadership to drive innovation and operational excellence.
