Swiggy 2025

Swiggy, India’s pioneering on-demand convenience platform, has announced that Swiggy Instamart, its quick commerce service, has grown to cover 76 cities nationwide and will soon be available as a standalone mobile app.

The service, already part of Swiggy’s unified platform that includes food delivery and dining-out options, offers deliveries within 10 minutes and features nearly 50,000 products.

What did Swiggy's CEO say?

Swiggy’s Managing Director and Group CEO Sriharsha Majety said the rapid expansion reflects Instamart’s potential to rival and possibly surpass the company’s food delivery business in scale. He noted that Instamart’s positive reception in new cities and product categories suggests it could reach well beyond 100 million users.

While Instamart will remain integrated into the Swiggy app—benefitting from cross-pollination with Swiggy’s other services—the standalone app will act as an additional channel, making the quick commerce service more accessible and user-friendly.

Instamart CEO Amitesh Jha said the new app will ensure a seamless adoption experience, particularly for consumers seeking an easy way to order everyday essentials. He added that Swiggy One, One Lite, and One BLCK subscribers will continue to enjoy the same benefits on both Instamart within the Swiggy app and on the new platform.

Swiggy's market presence

Swiggy, which was founded in 2014, has also experimented with standalone offerings in the past. While it successfully integrated services like Dineout into its main app after acquiring them, those services retain their own apps for customers who prefer dedicated platforms.

Swiggy has introduced specialized services like Swiggy Daily and InsanelyGood as separate apps as well. With plans to launch more new offerings this year, the company says it is committed to innovating for evolving consumer needs and solidifying its position as a leader in on-demand convenience.

Currently, Swiggy’s multi-service platform is used by millions each month and collaborates with more than 2 lakh restaurants across 680-plus cities for food delivery.

Through Instamart, it delivers groceries and other essentials to a wide user base, leveraging over 5 lakh delivery partners. With the upcoming Instamart standalone app, Swiggy aims to further streamline its quick-commerce offering, meet consumers on the channels they prefer, and continue pushing the boundaries of convenience-driven retail in India.
