Swiggy Instamart partners with YISU

Young India Skills University (YISU) and Swiggy’s quick commerce arm Instamart have entered into a multi-year partnership to launch a skill-based academic programme aimed at preparing youth for careers in the fast-growing quick commerce sector.

Under an MoU, the collaboration is expected to train more than 5,000 youths in Telangana. The MoU was signed in the presence of YISU Vice-Chancellor V.L.V.S.S. Subba Rao and Swiggy Ltd Chief Human Resources Officer Girish Menon.

As part of the partnership, Instamart, along with Scootsy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Swiggy and its logistics arm, will work with Young India Skills University to roll out a three-month learning programme focused on building job-relevant operational and managerial capabilities for the quick commerce industry. The curriculum will place particular emphasis on dark store, or retailware, operations.

The programme will combine classroom instruction with structured field exposure. Students who successfully complete the course and internship will be fast-tracked into operational roles such as Store Manager Trainees.

“Our collaboration with Young India Skills University focuses on creating practical, industry-aligned learning pathways that prepare graduates for real-world roles in supply chain and quick commerce operations. This is a long-term investment in India’s skilling ecosystem, not a short-term hiring initiative,” Menon said.

With quick commerce evolving from a convenience-led model into a core component of India’s retail and supply chain ecosystem, demand for skilled operations and management talent is rising rapidly, he added.

YISU Vice-Chancellor Subba Rao said the programme reflects the university’s focus on industry-aligned skilling and Instamart’s role in shaping workforce development for the sector in Telangana. The partnership, he said, would help address the evolving needs of the industry and equip young talent with job-relevant skills.

Under the MoU, Instamart will contribute industry expertise, sector insights, instructional support and guest faculty, while YISU will provide academic oversight and curriculum approval through its Academic Council. The collaboration also includes setting up an Instamart-supported Training Lab and Centre of Excellence at YISU’s permanent campus in Future City, Hyderabad.

The programme is designed to balance academic rigour with hands-on exposure, ensuring graduates are equipped with skills that are directly relevant to employers in the quick commerce and supply chain ecosystem.
