Swiggy launches '99 Store' for budget-friendly meals in 175 cities

In a calculated move to attract Gen Z consumers and price-conscious diners, food delivery major Swiggy has launched a new segment on its platform called the ‘99 Store’. The offering includes single-serve meals priced between Rs 49 and Rs 149 and is now available in more than 175 cities, including major metros like Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai.

The initiative comes amid rising competition in the budget meal delivery space, as Rapido—backed by Swiggy itself—gears up to launch its own food delivery app, ‘Ownly’, in Bengaluru over the next 8–10 days. Rapido’s new service is expected to debut in neighbourhoods such as Koramangala, HSR Layout, and Sarjapur, with a strong emphasis on affordability. The company has asked restaurant partners to list 4–5 items under Rs 150, as part of its sub-Rs 150 offering designed to challenge the incumbent Swiggy-Zomato duopoly.

Swiggy's ‘99 Store’ offers items such as rolls, biryanis, thalis, momos, and desserts at flat pricing, with quick-prep times and zero delivery fees for orders above Rs 99 when users opt for the company’s ‘Eco Saver’ mode. This mode clusters multiple orders to optimise delivery efficiency while lowering costs. Previously, free delivery was available only on orders above Rs 199 through a Swiggy One membership.

“The 99 Store is our way of making sure daily meals don’t burn a hole in your wallet,” said Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy Food Marketplace. “Whether you’re on a college budget or just looking for a fuss-free lunch, this is Swiggy’s most value-driven offering yet.”

Swiggy has partnered with a wide range of local eateries and QSR brands, including KFC, Pizza Hut, La Pino’z Pizza and Taco Bell—for the new store, offering flat Rs 99 options and some deals as low as Rs 49. The segment is prominently featured in-app with a dish-first layout, designed for easy browsing and quick conversions, particularly from younger users.
