Food and grocery delivery giant Swiggy has introduced SNACC, a new app promising to deliver quick meals, beverages and snacks in 15 minutes.

The announcement comes at a time when the rapid food delivery space in India is bustling with activity, as established platforms and emerging startups rush to meet the demands of consumers who want meals on their doorstep faster than ever before.

Meanwhile, Zomato has also launched a 15-minute food delivery service feature on its main app.

Launching separate app

Until now, Swiggy housed all its services, including food delivery, quick commerce, hyperlocal delivery, and its dining-out feature, under a single main app. The rollout of SNACC reflects a strategy seen across the industry, where separate apps are being launched to stand out and cater to different user segments.

This approach is already in play at rival platforms like Blinkit, which has launched Bistro, and Zepto, which is introducing Zepto Cafe for quick food deliveries.

Other names such as Swish, Magicpin, and Zing are also taking aim at the same market, indicating a fierce contest for user loyalty and market share.

Future expansion

SNACC went live on January 7 in select parts of Bengaluru, Swiggy’s home base. According to media reports, the service will expand to other regions soon.

The new app features a bright fluorescent green backdrop and dark blue text, displaying items in categories including Indian Breakfast, Coffee, Bakes, Cold Beverages, Eggs, and Protein.

Well-known brands like Blue Tokai and The Whole Truth are already listed on SNACC, while many items appear to be unbranded and sourced from third-party food providers. Industry insiders say the offering was conceptualized in mid-December, making its launch in less than a month notably quick.
