Bigbasket, the Tata Digital-owned online grocery platform, has expanded its electric vehicle (EV) delivery fleet to 50 cities across India, the company said. The expansion is part of its broader strategy to lower emissions and invest in sustainable logistics infrastructure.

As part of the effort, bigbasket has partnered with Kazam, a startup that provides EV infrastructure and technology. The collaboration includes the deployment of over 4,000 charging points across 773 locations, along with fleet management systems designed to improve energy use, monitor driver performance, and optimize routes and operational costs. The infrastructure includes 24/7 surveillance, LEVAC compliance, and zero-downtime protocols.

“Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword for us; it’s built into our DNA. We are committed to building a logistics ecosystem that’s future-ready, cost-efficient, and environmentally responsible. Our collaboration with Kazam has further enabled us to scale with precision and integrate cutting-edge energy tech into our supply chain. Our goal is to achieve a 60% electric delivery fleet by 2030,” said TK Balakumar, Chief Operating Officer, bigbasket.

The company said it has already managed more than 3.2 GWh of clean energy use and facilitated over 64 million kilometers of deliveries using electric vehicles. The shift, bigbasket noted, is aimed not only at reducing its carbon footprint but also at improving long-term operational efficiency.

“We’ve always believed in making EV adoption frictionless, not forced,” said Akshay Shekhar, Kazam. “This partnership with bigbasket proves that when businesses are empowered with real-time energy intelligence and interoperable systems, green logistics can scale fast, securely, and sustainably. We're not just topping up batteries, we're building the future of delivery.”
