Entrepreneur Ujjawal Asthana penned a heartfelt farewell to Bengaluru, the city he called home for over 14 years, as he prepared to move to Pune.

Asthana, the co-founder of Zymrat, expressed deep gratitude to Bengaluru for shaping his personal and professional life.

In a note shared on X (formerly Twitter), Asthana reflected on his journey in the city, saying, "Bangalore has been home for 14+ years. The city has given me all the good things in my life – first job, first foreign trip, a life partner, 2 successful businesses, funding, startup acquisition, great friends, a network worth in gold, and much more."

Despite not being a native of Bengaluru, Asthana emphasized that the city never made him feel like an outsider. He dismissed the notion that his lifestyle was confined to a "bubble of high-rise and car," saying, "I have also lived the BMTC, Auto, Cab life in the city for the longest time."

Asthana described Bengaluru not as a city but as an experience, one that transforms anyone who chooses to walk its streets and live among its people. "Bangalore is not a city; it is a beautiful experience that is hard to explain in words. You experience it once you live with the people here and walk in the lanes of Jayanagar," he wrote.

Asthana also addressed those who view Bengaluru less favorably, urging them to explore the city beyond its popular stereotypes. "People who call Bangalore 'meh' need to live beyond the weather, coffee, beer, and startups," he remarked.

"While I am going to make Pune my new home, and I can't wait to start my journey there, I will keep walking in the lanes of Bangalore – the city I have called home since I became an adult, on each trip," Asthana expressed.

Bengaluru Vs Pune: Netizens reaction

Ujjawal's heartfelt farewell post to Bengaluru has garnered over 290,000 views. Many people took to the comment section to share their perspectives about Bengaluru and Pune, sparking an interesting dialogue about the two cities.

"I lived in Pune for 1.5 years during 2015-2016, but I still love Bengaluru, which has a special place in my heart. Specifically, the food, idly wada, made me come back," a user wrote.

On the other hand, comparisons with Pune were also prevalent. Aviral Bhatnagar expressed his admiration for Pune, saying, "Pune is a great city to live in – good people, weather, food, vibes. I’d say that it has the good parts of all Indian cities and none of the extreme greats or bad. It also allows you to be an independent thinker, away from the noise and echo chambers."

"You will love Pune. It is a beautiful city, and it doesn’t fail to make you feel like home." another wrote.

"Pune has the best of both worlds. Modern infra and greenery + mountains on the outskirts. Has a rich history and amazing food too," a third noted.

"Hope you have learnt basic kannada for all these years stay in Bengaluru. Don't forget to learn basic Marathi in Pune. All the best for your new adventure. Stay inclusive," a fourth added.
