Indian Traveltech giant OYO Rooms, in an attempt to grow its sales amid the forthcoming Men's Cricket World Cup in India, today said it plans to open 500 new hotels in the next three months, which would be located near the stadiums in the host cities to facilitate easy access for international cricket fans.
The company also noted an early rise in hotel tariffs across the host cities, as the booking demand escalated three months prior to the tournament. The demand is projected to continue to surge for the duration of the World Cup, the company said.
The development comes almost three months prior to the starting of The International Cricket Council (ICC) One Day International (ODI) Men's World Cup, which will be hosted in multiple cities across India, including Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Delhi, Dharamsala, Chennai, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Pune. The tournament is set to start from October 5 and will last until November 19.
Last month. OYO said it will add 1000+ hotels to support over 100 first-generation hoteliers as part of its accelerator program.
