Uber Shikara pre-booking
Uber Shikara rides are available for booking from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and can accommodate up to four passengers for one-hour trips. Customers can reserve their rides 12 hours to 15 days in advance via the Uber Reserve feature in the app.
"At Uber, we are always looking to make mobility magical and effortless. Uber Shikara is our humble attempt to blend technology and tradition to give a seamless experience to travellers for their Shikara ride. We are proud to create this iconic experience enhancing accessibility and uplifting tourism in the breathtaking landscape of Kashmir," said Prabhjeet Singh, President, Uber India & South Asia.
The service aims to eliminate the hassle of last-minute arrangements, allowing visitors to focus on the serene beauty of Dal Lake.
Supporting the local economy
In a move that directly benefits local shikara operators, Uber has waived platform fees, ensuring that the entire fare goes to the boat drivers. Notably, users will be able to book shikara at government-determined rates.
Wali Mohammad Bhatt, President of the Shikara Owners Association, welcomed the initiative, noting it could significantly boost the business of Dal Lake’s 4,000 shikara operators.
Uber initially launched the service with seven shikaras, with plans for expansion based on demand.
"Uber service will boost shikara operators' business as the app will facilitate the booking of the boats at fixed rates and end bargaining which provides relief to tourists. The booking will also provide assured income for Shikara operators. We expect more shikara to join Uber, based on the response of tourists," Bhatt said.

2. Set “Shikara Ghat No. 16” as the pick-up and drop-off points.
