The Unified Payments Corporation of India (UPI) services across India were restored after a significant outage disrupted transactions on payments apps such as Google Pay and Paytm.
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) confirmed that it experienced “intermittent technical issues”, leading to partial declines and delays throughout the evening.
According to Downdetector, complaints about failed transactions surged, with 3,305 reports logged by 7:47 PM.
The disruption affected thousands of users on PhonePe, Paytm, and Google Pay, sparking widespread concerns as major digital payment platforms struggled with downtime.
Late on Wednesday, NPCI posted on X (formerly Twitter), stating: “NPCI had faced intermittent technical issues owing to which UPI had partial decline. The same has been addressed now and the system has stabilised. Regret the inconvenience.”

Many users reported being unable to transfer funds, process payments, or even log in to their accounts for several hours.
