Microchip Technology, a leading semiconductor company known for making innovative design easier through total systems solutions, has expanded its India operations with the acquisition of 1.72 lakh square feet (16,000 square meters) of premium office space at the Export Promotion Industrial Park (EPIP) Zone in Whitefield, Bengaluru.

The move underscores the company’s continued focus on strengthening its engineering and design capabilities in India. The new facility will serve as a strategic extension of Microchip’s existing Bengaluru Development Center and is capable of accommodating over 3,000 employees over the next decade.

Designed to foster collaboration across global and regional teams, the facility will also support Microchip’s hiring plans and provide advanced infrastructure for research and development.

“At Microchip, growth is about creating opportunities as much as scaling operations. With India contributing to nearly 20 percent of global semiconductor design talent, our new Bengaluru facility will sharpen our advanced IC design focus and strengthen our engagement in one of the country’s most dynamic technology hubs,” said Srikanth Settikere, vice president and managing director of Microchip’s India Development Center.

We believe our investments in the region will enable us to both benefit from and contribute to the country’s increasingly important role in the global semiconductor industry,” he said.

The Bengaluru expansion marks Microchip’s second facility in the city, adding to its existing presence in Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, and New Delhi.
