The company rebranded its name after the successful completion of both the companies, Idea Cellular and Vodafone India Ltd.
In August 2018, Vodafone India got merged with the Aditya Birla Group-owned Idea Cellular. The main aim of this merger was to provide the best products and superior services to the users at a low cost.
Furthermore, The main aim of this step was to reduce the cost of maintaining the two brands; and to fight the intense competition in the country’s highly-indebted telecom sector.
Since the merger of Vodafone and Idea Cellular, the company has focussed on “integrating the two large networks, our people and processes”. said, Ravinder Takkar, MD & CEO, Vodafone Idea.
“Today I am delighted to present Vi, a brand that will bring important meaning to the lives of our customers. Indians are optimistic and want to get ahead in life,” he added.
