Walmart-owned ecommerce giant Flipkart has signed definitive agreement to acquire a majority stake in Bengaluru-based generative AI startup Minivet, for an undisclosed amount.

The acquisition comes at a time when digital commerce is increasingly shifting towards visual-first, video-led and conversational discovery.

By integrating Minivet AI’s proprietary technology, Flipkart aims to accelerate the creation of more intuitive, interactive and immersive shopping experiences across its platforms.

Minivet AI focuses on generative video solutions for ecommerce, enabling the transformation of static product catalogues into rich and engaging video content at scale. Built on sophisticated model orchestration and deep performance optimization, the platform delivers quality results at a fraction of traditional production costs. It also offers a broader suite of e-commerce AI capabilities.

Aditya Rachakonda, founder of Minivet AI, said the partnership would help rapidly deploy the company’s proprietary GenAI solutions at scale.

“This partnership with Flipkart is a pivotal moment for Minivet AI. It allows us to accelerate the deployment of our proprietary GenAI solutions, from catalog videofication to conversational search, directly onto India’s leading ecommerce platform at scale, making shopping more intuitive and immersive for millions of customers,” he said.

Ravi Iyer, senior vice president – corporate at Flipkart, said integrating Minivet AI’s niche talent and proprietary technology would enhance critical capabilities such as catalog videofication and semantic search.

“These are critical for addressing the rising industry trend of visual-first and video-first commerce, ultimately driving higher customer engagement, conversions and long-term innovation across the Flipkart platform and, over time, the wider Flipkart Group ecosystem,” he said.
