Yes Madam clarifies on firing over 100 employees for being stressed

Shark Tank India-featured Yes Madam faced significant backlash after an internal email from its HR department went viral. The email, shared by an employee on LinkedIn, suggested that over 100 employees were fired after admitting to feeling stressed at the workplace in a survey.

However, Yes Madam issued a clarification denying the allegations of mass firing.

"We sincerely apologize for any distress caused by recent social media posts suggesting we dismissed employees for being stressed. We would never take such an inhuman step. Our team is like our family, and their dedication, hard work, and passion are the foundation of all our successes," the startup said.

The Noida-based startup said that no employees were terminated and that the survey was part of an awareness initiative aimed at highlighting workplace stress.

"The social media posts were a planned effort to highlight the serious issue of workplace stress. And to those who shared angry comments or voiced strong opinions, we say Thank you. When people speak up, it shows they care - and care is at the heart of our business," it said.

Yes Madam, which offers at-home salon services, clarified that employees who reported stress were given breaks to reset and were encouraged to focus on their well-being.

Introducing Happy 2 Heal and De-Stress Leave Policy

In its clarification note, Yes Madam announced a new corporate program called "Happy 2 Heal." The initiative will provide head massages and spa sessions at the workplace, designed to help employees relax and recharge.

The startup also introduced what it claims to be India’s first-ever De-Stress Leave Policy. Under this policy, employees will be entitled to six de-stress paid leaves annually to focus on their mental health and rejuvenation. Additionally, they will receive a complimentary spa session at home.

"We firmly believe that the backbone of any great organization is not built on stressed shoulders but on happy minds. So, let’s make employee well-being the new norm. Let’s create businesses that thrive on care, collaboration, and compassion," it added.
