Quick commerce unicorn Zepto has entered the epharmacy race with the launch of Zepto Pharmacy, a service offering 10-minute delivery of medicines in select areas of Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR and Hyderabad.
In a LinkedIn post, Zepto co-founder and CEO Aadit Palicha said the team has spent the last 12 months perfecting customer experience, supply chain logistics, and regulatory compliance at a smaller scale before rolling it out.
“Our objective is to keep operational standards extremely high and not scale too rapidly given the complexity of this category,” Palicha said.
“If we execute well, we believe this service can seriously improve the lives of millions and help make important medicines easier to access when we need them the most.”
The launch follows a broader trend among Indian quick commerce players to diversify beyond groceries. Just days prior, Blinkit began piloting its own prescription medicine delivery in parts of Bengaluru.
Other competitors are not far behind. Swiggy’s Instamart reportedly inked a partnership with PharmEasy last year, while PhonePe’s Pincode app and Flipkart are reportedly exploring pharmacy integrations with SastaSundar. Tata 1mg and Apollo 24/7 are also testing rapid delivery models, and newer entrants like Plazza and Farmako are offering 30-minute fulfillment in urban centers.
India’s epharmacy market is poised for significant expansion, with industry estimates projecting it to become a $12.7 billion opportunity by 2033.
Zepto's move into the sector coincides with a period of rapid financial growth for the Mumbai-based company. Zepto’s revenue surged 150% in FY25 to Rs 11,110 crore, up from Rs 4,454 crore in FY24.
