Swiggy Instamart, the quick-commerce arm of the food delivery giant Swiggy Ltd, has onboarded Kanika Tiwari as its new Head of Monetization.
Tiwari joins Swiggy after an eight-year tenure at Flipkart, where she held pivotal roles, including Director of Strategy and Growth at Flipkart Ads. She also served as Associate Director of Growth and Partnerships.
Notably, she also worked at Rivigo and Ericsson.
Kanika shares a LinkedIn post
Tiwari expressed her gratitude to Flipkart in a LinkedIn post, stating, "I’m excited to share that I’ve joined Swiggy – Instamart as Head of Monetization. I want to thank Flipkart for the opportunities and experiences gained during my tenure. I am grateful to all the leaders I got to work with, who helped me become the professional I am today. Looking forward to this new chapter and contributing to Swiggy’s success."
Leadership expansion at Swiggy
Tiwari's appointment is part of Swiggy's broader strategy to strengthen its leadership team. Recently, the company onboarded Supriya Shankar as Vice President of Events and Experience.
Shankar brings 14 years of expertise in internet commerce, having previously served as CEO of Lenskart Singapore and in senior roles at Airtel, Zomato, and OYO.
Additionally, Swiggy hired Shalabh Shrivastava as Senior Vice President of the Driver Organization and Hari Kumar G as Senior Vice President and Chief Business Officer for Instamart.
Rising competition in the quick commerce sector
Tiwari's appointment comes as competition in India’s quick-commerce sector heats up. Last week, Aadit Palicha-led Zepto raised $350 million in funding from domestic investors, including Motilal Oswal's Private Wealth Division and several other investors.
Meanwhile, Reuters reported that Amazon India is preparing to launch its quick commerce delivery service, codenamed “Tez,” by late December 2024 or early 2025.
